Moving from paper to e-invoicing is an opportunity for organizations of all sizes to reinforce their green credentials by reducing CO2 emissions. A recent scoping study by Basware into the carbon impact of electronic invoicing revealed that switching from paper-based systems to Basware’s electronic invoicing services results in an estimated 36% reduction in emissions. These emission savings are mainly from client-side staff productivity gains i.e. the reduction of accounts payable FTEs and associated activities (commuting, computer use, etc.).
The findings in the study highlight that the practices of Basware’s customers will significantly affect overall carbon efficiency. Particularly, they will have an impact on the scale of staff productivity gains, the carbon intensity of customer electricity supply, the efficiency of client computers and whether customers will still print documents. Basware can support and advise customers in all these areas as part of the client engagement and implementation process.
As a pioneering European supplier of waste services, sustainability is a key component of Van Gansewinkel’s philosophy, which is why they decided to transition from paper-based to e-invoicing with the help of Basware.
“The comprehensive Basware Network offers suppliers literally every possibility to deliver invoices electronically The sky is the limit!” -- Hans Wolfs, Accounts Payable Manager at Van Gansewinkel.
